OMG :-D
I would LOOOOOOVE to play the piano.
Well, actually...there's only ONE song I want to play on it.
If I could learn to just play THIS song, I'd be happy.
It's still in the works, it's going to be checked off of my list of things to do before I leave this planet :-D
When I was a kid in music class (because I DO play the recorder, which is a corny type of flute LOL...have played it since I was 6)...an old student of my teacher's came in and played Fur Elise...I was entranced!!! Beethoven is definitely my man LOL :-D
In high school, I would spend my study hall time in the auditorium just feeling out the notes and have learned to play 10 or so notes of Fur Elise =)
(had a friend who was annoying because he could play by ear, and a song that just came out the day before he could just sit and play it perfectly. Soooo jealous LOL)
Threw a hissy fit in Junior High music class because I wanted to play the violin and was told that my 'fingers were all wrong' :-D LMAO...was given the piccolo instead to play, hahahhahaa...do you know how small the case for a piccolo is? While everyone carrying that cool violin or clarinet case? ROTFLMAOOOO :-P
pianist( 5 years old ):L.v.Beethoven ' Fur Elise '
Cool. I just found some videos on How To Play Fur Elise!!!
Now I just need to buy a keyboard and I AM going to learn this!!!! yayyyyy =)

Help

We don't have a piano playa yet…ahem ;)
Good luck Ariela…you go gf :)
SUCH a darling lil girl :)
Thank You Sunshine!
(something we need to say more LOL)
LOL…it's gonna take me a while :-P
Ehh..maybe not…I learn fast :-D
If a 5 year old can play it, I can too…this and more shall I do…rotflmao :-D
This is the song I love the most by the great (and devastatingly handsome) Ludwig. lol… I really do love this song. I personally would say it was his best work (subjective)… to me, when played with the passion with which it was written, one of the truly great pieces of music.
I relearned reading music when I was in college just to learn to play it… I played it until my family mutinied (driven crazy by constant repetition)
It was ssooooo worth it. :-)

Hi Alan!
Oooh I love Moonlight Sonata…hmmm…may have to learn to play that one after Fur Elise.
Beethoven and Bach…those are my faves =)
I can't read music at all :-( I've tried. The only way I can do it is to translate the notes into the letters :-D LOL
And Ohhhh…we had an organ when I was a little one :-D I remember making up my own chords and harmonies and zoning out LOL :-D
:-)
Sometimes I think all any composers or writers of music ever did was make up chords and zone out. then agian, there's music theory, which is like “music making by numbers” to me, literally. I'm not so much a fan of it… I love the songs people made while making their own chords and zoning out… or at least I love the songs that sound like that. :-)
Translating notes into letters… I guess I'm not sure what you mean, 'cause the way I figure it that's what reading music is… middle C is one symbol, and right above that, well, there's D…
The only other dimension I know to it is the duration of the note/time signature of the song…
Rock on

Had a Harp too for a little while…my Daddy loved seeing me 'play it'. (more like play with it LOL)
What I mean about the notes is…the notes seem to dance on the lines, can't make heads or tails outta them. I have to spend time translating each note and actually writing what the corresponding letter is. My fingers can play the letters. :-D Can't make that instantaneous translation from notes to fingers :-D
Nothing I like more that seeing someone zone out…playing music…or dancing by themselves…it's a Connection, a total envelopment that I find very tasty =)
Piano, yes! Or the Fiddle….I greatly admire all musicians who can all play with such ease! I could not learn notes and for 2 yrs of guitar lessons just watched what the teacher was doing and learned only the very first part of “Tacata en fugue in D minor” but loved Beethoven's work, especially “Pathetique” When I was 19 I was paying on time for this baby grand piano in my apt. but only did Tacta en fugue over & over until I'm sure my landlady downstairs went crazy. Whenever I used to have my weekly parties at my apt everyone knew that once I got on my piano that meant that the party was over and they'd leave….haha
Growing up I so wanted to become another Joni Mitchell, I just love her!
And I loved listening to Judy Collins singing to Leonard Cohen tunes, Janis Joplin singing Leadbelly…Led Zep, Grateful Dead to Iggy Pop and Siouxsie & the Banshees!
Has anyone ever seen in concert Raina Rose, Beliss, or Kate Mann who are all from Portland? They're all amazing! I guess I'll always be a frustrated non-musician…
Hi there Miss Babs!
Nice to see you again! Thank You for sharing your experiences =)
Joni Mitchell is very inspiring in so many ways!
How lucky you are to have a baby grand to tickle the ivories! Whaaaat…?! I would be so thrilled to hear someone play at the end of a get together…seems like the perfect finale!
Well…it is always a prime time to learn something new…or relearn…or fine tune =)
Hugs~~<3
