This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 15, 2008:
We stay connected as a People by staying connected to God/Love/Light/Source.
Individually and Collectively.
Simply Tune In to the Global Mind and not the TV. :-D
You'll like this channel much better. =)

You can say that again Ariela! (okay not literally)
I have made a conscious choice not to have TV at all for most of my adult life (and we didn't have a choice to have a TV when I was a child as we lived without electricity ). I find that TV just takes up too much time and space and squishes out community, creativity and reflection. In fact if I was to suggest one thing that could have an immediate positive impact on a person's life it would be to ditch the TV, cut the cable and just see what comes forward (after the withdrawal of the first two weeks that is)
Thank You Friends! ((Hugs ALL))
Terrill…and it shows, me dear ;-)
There was a great Q&R a little while back about what we would do without TV's…I wrote what you just said…that we would have tighter and closer communities and we could exercise our own creativity and be our own idols :-D The day after, the Q&R was, “What would you do with all those unused TV's now?” LOL! That was a funny followup and the answers were a HOOT! Soooo much fun with it!
Oh, and if anyone finds that they get headaches, try moving the TV out of your room, and make sure there isn't one on the other side of the wall where you rest your head. See if that doesn't Work…it did with my son many years ago.
And if you DO NOT have a TV…More power to ya! LOL
Thanks all for your time and presence! Love You All~~~<3
It is funny because people sometimes say… but what about the news? They seem a little surprised when I respond that if something is important enough someone will be talking about it and I will hear everything I need to know. I do read one national paper a week (Saturday Globe and mail) and scan the local papers on-line every few days. For international news, there are often interesting discussions right here on Gaia that link to sources that are far better than mainstream media. So it is possible to stay current on world affairs without TV and this is partly due to internet access and virtual communities like ours. Though I must admit to monitoring the amount of time I spend on-line as well… leaving lots of room to water the garden, go to the beach, walk through the woods, dally with neighbours along the road or invite them in for tea when they stop by, and have lazy long suppers with my partner where we read out loud to each other. The pace is slower these days with the kids all grown and off on there own (we a collect of 8 between us), and my partner retired and me working from home still this life style has been such a rich experience even when the house was bursting at the seams with teenagers and their friends (though I don't miss a daily dose of rap music).
I am seeing much more evidence of community even in urban centres such as Vancouver with the increasing numbers of community gardens being developed, streets block off to be “car free” zones, and farmers markets becoming a common meeting place. And there were reports that the sale of seeds fo home gardens was way up this year.
We went down the street to visit a new cob home building site this week. Here were a group of about ten women and men mostly in bare feet to mix the straw and mud working away with a small radio playing softly in the background. The construction site was quiet, pleasant, warm and energized as it was decided where walls, window and doors would go. I am going to take some pictures and share them here because it is just an amazing experience to witness.
I say all this because I have so much hope that we (humanity) will find and change our way and thrive!
Thank You Terrill…this is news I like to hear! Now this is Good News!
It is sooo unlikely that cob houses will crop up here in NY, but I love love love the idea of cob houses and earthships. Love it even more that I'm hearing and seeing more of them popping up Globally.
Indeed this fills me with More Hope and I love to witness things progressing on a Better Path of sustainability and working With Mother Earth. Just fabulous. This is just the beginning, too…so I'm filled with excitement as this takes off!
There is nothing I like better than to see a community working together on a project that will be the pride and joy of what we can accomplish when we work as one.
Thank You again for sharing this wonderful news…may it Ripple on forward~~<3
I have to run but here is an interesting link about a strawbale cob wall in Ecovillage at Ithaca New York http://www.potkettleblack.com/natbild/sarahtree/ . We live in a strawbale timberframe home with some cob walls as well… it has incredible energy and warmth… I have some photos on Gaia of our la casa de inspiracion. Have a wonderful day and will catch up with you again soon.
Great I have not watched tv in years. The tv series that are great I watch in DVD.
Terrill…LOL, yes I figured that upstate NY would have them. Ithaca is beautiful. My sister went to Cornell Univ. located there and I remember lots of corn fields…so it fits…cob houses, LOL :-D
I meant in the Concrete Jungle and Tar Beach :-D
Thank you for the links, I am renewed with those visions ;-)
Samme…me too. I have my Sony Playstation as my DVD player…I like to watch what I want to watch when I want to watch it as opposed to sitting passively in front of a TV. Yuck.
Terrill,
thank you for the connection to Ecovillage! Strawbale work is amazing. I know some people who live at The Ecovillage as well, and I watch a “cob house” being built while living at Easton Mountain. I will see if I have pix somewhere… and there are some men at Zuni Mountain that are building a straw-bale house…
Staying connected is being present…

collective purfect for cats too…meeow…pan shadow
I just popped onto my page to cut and paste one paragraph, should have taken two minute's, not three hours, it's like a crystal maze this site and full of treasure, there's definitely truth in what you say…thank-you…pan
Treasure not tv…it's all good…it's all free…although I do watch the odd thing and it can be stimulating for the mind in moderation, pick and mix…it's just a fix, education, entertainment now and then, a healthy flow, to make you grow, for Sunday rest as one, the best for all, the one's to come.
