White T%u0101r%u0101 Meditation

The Goddess White Tara, a female Buddha and meditational deity, is considered to be the Goddess of universal compassion.
She represents virtuous and enlightened activity.
She is the essence of feminine wisdom.
She also represents the essence of compassion, healing and abundance.
White Tara is believed to protect her followers as well as fill their hearts with love and compassion.
She is also invoked by believers for the Blessing of a long life.
Tara is actually the generic name for a set of Buddhas or bodhisattvas of similar aspect.
These may more properly be understood as different aspects of the same quality.
Tara is also known as a saviouress, as a heavenly deity who hears the cries of beings experiencing misery in samsara.
Tara also embodies many of the qualities of Feminine Principle.
She is the Source, the female aspect of the Universe, which gives birth to compassion and relief from bad karma, as experienced by ordinary beings in cyclic existence.
As White Tara, she expresses maternal compassion and offers healing to beings who are hurt or wounded, either physically or psychically.
Tara is pictured as being endowed with seven eyes (at the palms of the hands, soles of the feet, and her forehead). The multiple Eyes symbolize the watchfulness of the compassionate mind.

Om Tare Tuttare Ture Mama Ayuh Punya Jnana Pustim Kuru Svaha

Mama means 'mine' and indicates that you'd like to possess these qualities of long life, merit, wisdom, happiness.

Ayuh is long life (as in Ayurvedic medicine)

Punya means the merit that comes from living life ethically, and this merit is said to help one to live long and happily.

Kuru is a mythical land to the north of the Himalayas.

Jnana is wisdom.

Svaha is an exclamation meaning 'hail' or 'may Blessings be upon'

May the many Blessings of the White Tara be upon you.

Thanks so much this is so beautiful.
Is Tara the same as Kwan Yin ??(various spellings)
I bought a beautiful Kwan Yin at the local Buddhist temple and she sits nearby watching me.  I look back at her.
I really enjoyed this wonderful video.  The voices are so soothing, and I became very tearfully emotional.  It is very touching.

So happy you all enjoy this as much as I did!
Mimi, follow this link to my dear friend Butterflygris' page on YouTube for a bit more background on Tara…and She and Kwan Yin/Quan Yin are different aspects of the same. =) This particular Tara aspect originated from Hinduism.

Hey Samme,
I checked out your Tara altar, and got a bigger view and understanding of the Tara deity .  I had a bit of giggle at the end at the “Protection from Carniverous Animals”  Tara - is that like 'I hope the lion doesn't eat me?' Or does “carniverous' mean something different here?
